«Play of Forms» pearl necklace

Item No. 81262

About this piece

Round and elongated pearls alternate in a calm rhythm. The white Coin pearls bring light to the composition, while the Peacock Biwa pearls add lively accents with their shifting colours. Together, they create a balanced composition whose full character reveals itself on closer inspection.

A Small Piece of History

Biwa pearls take their name from Lake Biwa in Japan, once renowned for its freshwater pearls. Today, the term is used mainly for elongated pearl shapes. Their irregular form is a reminder that nature does not create beauty according to fixed rules.

Details

The hand-knotted pearl necklace measures 49 cm in total and closes with an oval magnetic clasp in pearly white. It is made with slightly baroque white freshwater Coin pearls measuring approximately 13 mm in diameter, together with Biwa pearls, or stick-shaped pearls, in Peacock tones and varying sizes. Their natural growth characteristics create attractive reflections that particularly enhance the exceptional lustre of the pearls.
