This piece of jewellery draws its character from depth. The black metal chain, dark shell-core pearls and square-cut obsidian create a calm, almost graphic line. At the centre is the finely chased pocket watch, designed not only to tell the time but to be worn as jewellery in its own right.
A Small Piece of History
Obsidian forms when lava cools rapidly and has been used since ancient times for tools, mirrors and adornment. Its dark, glass-like surface retains something elemental. Combined with a pocket watch, it brings geological time together with measured time – two very different forms of duration.

Pearl necklace with a half-length of 37.5 cm, made with a black metal chain. It includes eight pinned shell-core pearls and four pinned elements combining shell-core pearls with square-cut obsidian, also known as volcanic glass. The pearls measure 10 mm and 8 mm, while the obsidian measures 14.4 × 14.4 mm. The pendant is a quartz pocket watch with a finely chased black metal case, hinged cover mechanism and a viewing opening.
